UNPLUG; GOOD THINGS HAPPEN!

Sometimes you really need to “un-plug” for a while. Haven’t done much posting lately, after the gem show I took two weeks off to see my grandsons for their 8th birthday!  And we worked on the new house in Florida; ripping up carpet and putting tile, cleaning, yard work – the usual. I brought my laptop and work with me because I was so afraid to take the time off, and not be “in touch” 24/7. But once I got to work on the house, I worried a little less and a little less. We would have coffee every morning out on the dock, watching the fish jump and the lizards scatter. There is something much more “laid back” and relaxing here – not that people don’t work, it’s just not the only thing in their lives. We worked really hard fixing things up all day long, and then we’d sit with family for dinner, or visit with the new neighbors. I guess it surprised me how easy it actually was to not be “plugged in”. No tv, no computer, no radio, the only electronic device I checked occasionally was my phone. We think there will be a terrible tragedy, but  the truth is good things happen! I know this was absolutely a work vacation, but a different type of work gives you a different perspective. Nothing bad happened, I actually found some serenity. The work was important, and we got a LOT  done, but the little bit of down time we had was just as important. There is ALWAYS going to be something more to do, but if we don’t take time out to recharge our batteries, we can get burned out. So here is what I learned; the world doesn’t need me as much as I think, so I can do something different, take a break from my routine, or do nothing for a while, the world will be fine – I bet it can get along without any of us for a bit. So unplug – good things happen!
