SEMI-PRECIOUS GEMSTONE STAUROLITE;
Naturally formed crosses are very rare and highly valued. The brown mineral staurolite “twins” to form a cross in the silvery white schist matrix. This Russian material is the better quality. Stone is also known as a “fairy cross”; legend has it that upon seeing Christ crucified, the fairies’ tears became crystal crosses of staurolite!
