APRIL IS A REAL GEM!

APRIL IS A REAL GEM! April has a birthstone of a DIAMOND! How can you not LOVE a month that revolves around diamonds? Remember, diamonds are a girl's best friend! I have diamond impregnated grinding wheels and diamond sintered saw blades, so I like to tell people I don't wear my diamonds, I wear them out! These brilliant, sparkly gems are rare and precious, but don't worry- I have an alternative… HERKIMER DIAMONDS! You can read all about them in my STONE OF THE MONTH section. Herkimers are actually compact, double terminated, clear quartz crystals that formed very slowly in small solution cavities about 500 million years ago. These gems have 18 natural facets and two terminations (points). They are found in Herkimer County NY. They are the most valuable and clearest, as well as the most powerful of all the quartz crystals.

Herkimers will also be included in my FEATURE CASE this month, as I will be high lighting the CLEAR QUARTZ CASE. Drop in to a show near you to see what's inside this case, and remember the pieces within will be on special one time this month at each of my venues. In addition to the FARMERS MARKETS  I attend, I will also be vending at A TASTE OF PUNTA GORDA this month! We will be at the lovely Laishley Park on April 3rd.

We are coming closer to the end of our "high season". Most markets will close after the end of April. A few will go through May, but very few will continue year round. Fortunately I have found a home at two markets that do stay open all year, and they are close to home! The next two months will still be very busy, but I am looking forward to the "down" time because my workshop is DONE!!! In the next two months in between work, I will start "spring cleaning" and setting up the workshop; moving into the new space. Then, when the quiet summer is here, I will have plenty of time to work on all sorts of projects in my beautiful new space!!

I'm so excited! I have a lot of ideas and projects in the works, swirling around in my head- I will have to make sure I have my herkimer in my pocket for extra creativity and focus!

completed workshopThere have been a lot of completed projects around here; there was an addition to our dock, we changed our master bathroom a bit, and we have a wonderful new room outside! A pan roof was installed over the lanai, right off the sliding glass door in the back of the house. So now we can live outside like the rest of Florida! LOL you know you are in Florida when your fridge and your TV are in your back yard, and there's more furniture outside than inside!

Things are warming up already, they keep telling me this is June weather, but "they" said that last year too! Mid March seems to be right when the weather goes into the summer pattern of humid, sunny days that end in thunder storms. The plants are growing like crazy again- we added to the collection this winter. Now we have a macadamia nut tree, a cherry tree, an orange tree, and a mango (thanks Mom!) tree. Also- garlic chives, more chocolate mint, and two types of tomatoes. This is in addition to all the ones we had before; banana trees, fig trees, star fruit, kumquat, lemon/lime, moringa, pineapple, papaya, coconut and aloe. The cactus is doing so well we shared pieces with a few neighbors! I think the turtles are slowly coming back too, I've seen them peeking up from the canal, they are still shy yet, but last year, with a little time I had twelve of them that would come right up to the dock to be fed. Well, that's all for now, I hope you are healthy and happy, and treasuring the real gems in life. I will leave you with something I thought was important and well said……
