JULY IS ROCKIN’ IN THE WORKSHOP!!!!!

July is jumpin' and the workshop is a rockin'! It may be hot outside, but my shop is nice and cool!

I am truly in my "happy place"! It feels great to finally be working on all those projects and ideas that have been swirling around in my head for so long! There's  no stopping me now- one day the threaded plug for the trim saw wasn't working, but I was determined to get a ton of rough trimmed up into pieces ready for the cabochon wheels. So I "made like Magiver!" I took a rag and a permanent marker and jammed it in there enough to keep the water inside the saw- it was like that for 3 hours of sawing! I have been working mostly on cutting up crazy lace agate and blue lace agate, rose quartz, and picture jaspers because they sold out in season! Once I get a decent amount of cabs in those materials cut, then I will cut other materials.

I am having fun, so I don't care if it's quiet down here right now. Making inventory may not be everyone's idea of vacation, but lucky for me it's kinda like my therapy!

In addition to sawing, cutting, polishing, and wire wrapping, I am also working on the computer a lot. There are some new things I am trying out in the internet arena, so if you "like my facebook page" you can follow along and see what's going on. This week I am starting a new venture; I am going to tell my story on facebook. You know, how and why I started polishing rocks, the milestones that led me to where I am now, and some fun little anecdotes along the way! It all started with a rock…. who's surprised?? Here is the rock- you can find out why this one is special if you follow my story-

This week on facebook I have an album of pieces for sale! Another new venture for me! I will be doing this on a regular basis, right now the album is THE BEACH LINE- you can see it here;

The kumquats and cherry trees are producing now, and I have huge pods on my moringa tree, and that one is only a year old! The best, though, is Mom's mango tree is loaded! And they are yummy!

I've had a couple friends visit and one of my aunts, and then there was this uninvited visitor…..

alligatorYup, a gator! This guy was like seven feet from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, and right in front of my dock! Yikes! Just hoping they don't like to eat turtles for dinner, because my turtles are coming back! Just one at first, now I am up to four, but I saw #5 lurking in the back ground. Last season by the time they all left for the warmer waters, I had 12! Never a dull moment around here!

I admit though, it is a tough choice…. playing in my new workshop, or soaking up this view………

it's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it! ( love you Dad )
