Meteorite fragment is a silver color; meteorite is made of iron and nickel. This fragment is from the Campo del Cielo (field of heaven) meteorites. It fell 4,000 to 6,000 years ago. Meteorites are what we see as shooting stars; most never make it down to earth, they burn up through the atmosphere.
